Community Chords

All Together Now

Community Chords is a donation-supported outreach program conducted by the Augusta Symphony whose mission is to share the joy of music with veterans seeking relief through music therapy. The program creates relationships between veterans and the orchestra; Symphony musicians perform for veterans and hospital staff throughout the year at local VA Medical Centers, provide live music during therapy sessions, and invite veterans to observe Symphony rehearsals at the Miller Theater.

The uplifting power of music is the maestro behind our colorful and approachable identity for Community Chords. Radiating positivity and connectedness, it is designed to inspire donors to give towards a brighter future where everyone has access to world-class music, and to encourage vets to engage with Augusta’s music scene through concerts, meeting local musicians, and someday, classes, workshops and more.

The Community Chords mark is related to the Symphony’s brand through shape, which is an easter egg that ties the two brands together; the soundwaves icon is derived from the curve of the Symphony’s treble clef.

Colors of the Winds

Our color strategy was obvious from the get-go – be positive and vibrant, and able to live comfortably with the fam’. As a sister brand, we included both the turquoise from the Miller Theater and the Symphony’s red. The primary yellow belongs solely to Community Chords and evokes optimism and warmth.

On Repeat

We love patterns – that little extra bit of visual uniqueness that brings life to a brand. We settled on two geometric designs that can be used across all of CC’s collateral, the first evoking soundwaves and the second reflecting echoes rippling outward into the community.

Grace Notes

The typography was chosen to create a welcoming and positive tone, but also polished and professional – after all, the program will be stewarding community donations. And the photography is all about highlighting the program beneficiaries – high-contrast black and white photos of our vets that pop against the colorful backdrops.
