Laziza Mediterranean Grill
Wier / Stewart refreshes Laziza's visual identity as the restaurant preps for Augusta growth
Laziza opened its doors in 2011 and since then has thrived by serving fresh, authentic Mediterranean food. When the owners, Nader and Lisa Khatib, decided to open their second location they wanted a new, updated identity for their Broad Street spot. And it made sense. Transition is always a good time to rebrand. Plus, their downtown digs will feature a bar, outdoor seating and full grab and go menu.
Identities are one of our favorite things to do at W/S and Laziza is one of our favorite restaurants. So there was that.
The Challenge
To honor the original intent of their established brand and maintain equity, yet create a beautiful, flexible system built to help the restaurants flourish.
And, just like a spicy kebab dipped in tzatziki sauce, this one is all about balance.
· Casual, but well executed.
· Unique, but approachable and not too exotic.
· Authentic without being cheesy or theme-y.
Our Solve
Our approach is a modern, dynamic identity system with a dash of cultural history, which works equally well for branding and packaging.
Color
Starting with the current palette, we expanded the brand’s range by adding some rich browns to the mix. This intersection of classic, warm food and Middle Eastern colors has a vibrant, yet very classy and established feel.
Typography
Chosen for their legibility and aesthetic, this pairing of typefaces gives us a great degree of both approachability and utility.
Patterns
Patterns play a major role in Laziza’a identity. Their ability to vary the design while maintaining consistency across executions gives us a lot of options while maximizing awareness. We can go modern, classic, Mediterranean - anywhere.
We ended up with a multi-purpose identity that truly represents the Laziza brand. The new identity is open for whatever business it needs to handle, and we can’t wait for that business to be on Broad Street.
