High Caliber Counsel

Nimmons Malchow Johnson is a firm that has been quietly helping their clients get whole since 1985. Their focus on service, obsessive preparation and general old school Southern laywerliness make them a different breed of firm. We helped them build a brand reflecting who they are: High Caliber Counsel.

“Creating this identity was an exciting challenge in infusing lots of meaning into a very simple mark. We love the unity as well as the duality of the icon, representing two states; two areas of focus; the river and the courthouse. Designing the brand was an exercise in understatement, allowing sophisticated color, pattern and type to delicately persuade, rather than shout.”

Taking it Online
After creating standards and collaterals around their new identity, it was time to take the brand into the digital space. Launching the new site was a perfect opportunity to have our audience understand anew the culture and capabilities of the long-established firm.

Order in the Courtroom (simulator)
The mock trial room at NMJ is unique. By that, we mean no one else in the area has one. Not only does it serve as a proving ground where the guys sharpen their swords, it also makes a very nice location for a photo shoot. The antebellum office and Cadillac convertible were pretty solid settings, too.

Making it Personal
A big difference at Nimmons Malchow Johnson is personalized touch. When you deal with the firm, you are face to face with people who actually care. On a side note, we couldn't have done this without our girl, Emily. She's furthest left on the site and all right with us.

Strategic Positioning

Developing the positioning for the firm was a collaborative process. We listened for a long time, asked a lot of questions, stalked the competition and created a space from which NMJ could get to work. This document outlines what makes the firm different, defines how they position themselves going forward, and explains how they communicate their unique brand of lawyering to their audience.

“Loved this project. Great people and a really nuanced brand to bring to life. I'm pretty sure just about everyone at W/S had a hand in giving Nimmons Malchow Johnson a voice. The overall effect is greater than the sum of its parts.”

Alex Wier / Founder, CCO

“It was absolutely wonderful to work with W/S. The entire process start to finish was like being led on one of those extreme hunting trips, like where they drop you off in the woods with this knowledge of what you think you know but then it’s like, you’re all about to die of dehydration and over analyzing berry colors. In this process, Wier / Stewart was sort of like that one guy who was a boy scout turned prepper and he was all, 'it’s okay we need to make a leaf hut and boil that ocean water.' Despite all of the random requests for SEO content, almost hesitant attitude from our team for the workshop process, and philosophical outlook on what green was truly our color, you guys led us all through it with patience and knowledge. That’s something we valued so much and we honestly could not have done this without every single member of the W/S team (and that’s coming from someone who literally already tried once).”
