Southern Soul and Song Postcards

One Final Dispatch from Southern Soul & Song

Fitting that for the last waltz for Augusta’s favorite concert series, we’d get to design a postcard for each act. Throughout the years, we’d always played with the idea of travel as it applies to touring bands. We had things like trains, hotels, matchbooks and postage stamps as major themes and always incorporated elements akin to these in more subtle executions. For the postcards, we tied them all together with a ubiquitous Southern standard — what we call around here “The BBQ Palette” of red, yellow and black. Happy Trails to all and thanks to The Morris Museum for the memories.

“The Morris Museum partnered with Wier/Stewart 13 years ago to create a signature poster for each show of our Southern Soul & Song concert series. From a rooster wearing a Mardi Gras mask to crows flying away with banjo strong, from a bucket of chicken to shotgun shells; Alex, Leonard, and crew created a sensational collection of posters. To mark the series grand finale W/S brought grand ideas and design: one poster for the series and a postcard set detailing each show. Bravo!”

“It may have been my first rodeo but it was an honor to design a piece for the final Southern Soul and Song event. With each design piece we aimed to pay tribute to past pieces from over the years.”
