Southern Hospitality, Par Excellence.

When Vera Stewart approached us about a new identity for her all-inclusive Tournament Week experiences, we knew we were in for a treat. Renowned for their incredible catering, beautiful settings and unparalleled service, we had the opportunity to craft a brand that could communicate both superior quality and a once-in-a lifetime experience.

In business for over 35 years, the brand would need to convey a sense of history and classic Southern aesthetics, and yet be able to shepherd in new services as Vera grows. Our solve is an understated, elegant wordmark (we love it letterpressed in metallic copper foil).

Doin' It For The 'Gram

As native southerners, we love a good monogram. And Vera was the perfect opportunity to create a unique ‘alternate’ mark when only a wink at, rather than the full logo, is needed. Billowy and classic, the “V” mark is an extra-special touch on the corner of an embroidered napkin or pressed into a wax seal.

"It has been such an exciting few months working with W/S on this rebrand. At every point along the way, it has felt like they're reading our minds. They made the effort up front to understand the direction we wanted to take this part of our business and it paid off. We couldn't be more excited to share it with the world!"

It Looks Good On Paper

Since so much of Vera lives in print, we knew going “extra” would be the right course. The colors are inspired by Augusta – the rich green of our golf courses, the traditional “haint” blue gracing big southern porches, all punctuated by a metallic copper for a high-end touch. The premium collateral bookends the Vera experience – beginning with a business card; closing
with a thank-you card.

"Thirty-five years is a long journey and a rebrand has to have good reason, strategy and excitement behind it. This change represents a proud moment in the history of a company I started with a logo drawn on a cocktail napkin. The mark of our company now exemplifies the professional flair and sophistication that defines our brand. I applaud W/S for their attention to every layer of this process. Great recipe!"

Rebranding a 35+ year old company brings a unique set of challenges – conveying a staid, historic presence, promising an inimitable experience and ensuring the identity will evolve well with Vera's ever-expanding offerings. How do you convey Southern Hospitality to your audience without speaking? By bringing in the unique colors of Augusta, type that speaks of a lineage of service and patterns that, without words, offer a warm, southern 'Welcome!'"

"Vera is an expert at catering to others, but this time it was up to us to exceed her expectations. The goal for her site was to reflect a Vera-like level of convenience to visitors, and if we could capture half of her warmth and charm in the design, we had a recipe for success."
