How It’s Made: OOO
When Work is Play
Every year, when it’s time for our company retreat, we try to do something fun as our out of office (OOO) message. It all started with this one. Since then, we’ve attempted to raise the bar on this tradition and always approached it from the default setting of a video. This year, we forced ourselves outside of our own box asking, “what if it’s not a video?”. The result is our click-bait post (we promise not to do that again) which led a lot of you suckers into our 8-bit vacation fantasy land which culminates in our version of the “no internet connection” jumping dinosaur game. If you care to revisit wasting your time, you can check out some of the easter eggs within the site:
1. Space bar or tap to flip the UFO
2. Double clicking the sun will change to night mode
3. Konami code throws a rainbow Happy robot out there
“1 pixel + 1 pixel = 2 pixels = so many more pixels to go.”

“This project was a good example of ‘Wierd/Smart’. The page itself is bananas but the skills we used to figure out some of the elements was serious work. Plus it was fun to see things we could do that don’t always have a place on more traditional sites. Like when else are we going to put easter eggs and cheat codes on a site?”
