Meet The New TaxSlayer (s)
TaxSlayer is transforming from taxes to tech. We’re making people believe it.
Turning Tax Payers into Tax Slayers
TaxSlayer, as always, is evolving. A pioneering thought and brand in its space, the company is continuing to push the envelope, creating new platforms and products. Recently, TaxSlayer rebranded to emphasize their customer-focused culture and mission: turning tax payers into tax slayers.

Customer Obsessed
TaxSlayer’s success has always depended on one thing: empowering customers. The entire enterprise is built around taking the daunting task of taxes and giving people the tools to handle them. So, we made the helmet symbol, central to the new identity, representing the TaxSlayers, the customers, who are not simply the borrowers of the sword and shield, but the foundation upon which the company is built. Then we developed an integrated campaign that make our customers heroes.
Going Medieval
Born before the digital revolution, TaxSlayer's logo adhered more to the laws of print, not taking full advantage of the opportunities posed by the medium of light and pixels. As online expressions of brand have become more the rule than the exception, the identity needed to be reconsidered for the digital world.
And, while we loved the knight, his style was medieval.
Slay Day
To bring the feel and attitude of the new brand to life, a launch video was created to give employees a first look at the revamped TaxSlayer. Upbeat, customer-focused and fresh, it helped create internal buy-in on a pretty radical departure from a beloved brand.
Knight Moves
In 2018, TaxSlayer expanded their operations by purchasing and renovating a historic building in downtown, Augusta. Their new Innovation and Technology campus is in the heart of cyber valley, right here on Broad Street. Not only did we follow along, creating a documentary of the process, we also helped create and design the over 40 custom experiential murals throughout the new campus.
The Social Experiment
For TaxSlayer’s new Innovation & Technology Campus Grand Opening, we helped create some social engagement among party-goers with this hashtag-enabled social mosaic of the original downtown YMCA portrait. #prettysweet
Feeling ‘Tips’y
Doing your own taxes can feel intimidating. Not with TaxSlayer. To prove it, we helped them create some simple and easy-to-understand tax tip videos to pull users through the process of filing online.
Taking Over the USA (Today)
It’s not everyday you get to “takeover” one of the world’s most viewed websites. We targeted the procrastinators with this USA Today takeover.
Bowled Over
We always love seeing our work in the wild, but there's something extra special about that "wild" being the 50 yard line of the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on New Year's Eve. Building a solid bowl game logo means following some pretty strict best practices for the space. It also means giving it character, strength and the big-time collegiate athletics treatment. We think our big, bold badge feels right at home on the field, on the players, and with its parent logo, TaxSlayer.
Parting Thoughts
“The transformation of the old Y into TaxSlayer's Innovation and Technology Campus is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Huge for Downtown and one helluva fun project for us.”
— Alex Wier / Founder & Chief Creative Officer
“I was thoroughly pleased with the W/S production process of TaxSlayer's animated videos. We gave clear direction but didn't have to hold their team's hands. They understood the project and executed it skillfully. They handled everything from script writing to story boarding to production. They were accommodating when we needed. They kept us on track throughout the process. The end result is on-brand for TaxSlayer and also helpful to our customers. It was a pleasure working with their team!”
— Melissa Best / Director, Digital Marketing at TaxSlayer
“With so many moving parts involved in tax filing, it's important to answer questions before they're even asked. With Taxslayer being such a huge advocate for their customers, the purpose for these videos was to build confidence and awareness while slaying taxes.”
