Nom nom nom nom nom. Well, we couldn't actually eat all of this food, but it sure does look yummy, doesn't it? That's what we were going for with this Edgar's Grille food photography shoot. Appetizing, enticing, make-your-tummy-growl dishes and drinks that'll have you drooling quicker than you can scream "GET IN MY BELLY."
The Challenge
Menus tend to change seasonally, so showcasing our anchor dishes is important. Edgar's Grille wanted beautiful food photography to use throughout a variety of platforms that could have some shelf life. It was important to make the well executed and well thought out menu items originated by the staff at Edgar's Grille absolutely gorgeous. And that involves more technique than you might think.
The Solve
Food stylists, food stylists, food stylists. Holy moly, it makes all the difference. We worked with an Asheville-based expert food stylist to spice up our photoshoot. Bringing an army of utensils, herbs, magic tricks, you name it, Chris was able to highlight each dish's key components and do it on a tight timeline.
Over the course of 12 hours, we photographed the star dishes highlighting a few endeavors specific to Edgar's offerings: Light and refreshing lunches, fabulous outdoor dining, grabbing a bite after work, happy hour(!), and super special occasions.
Once the star dishes were finally chosen, we assigned them to their photo vignette and planned the shoot accordingly. To eliminate timing as a risk factor, it was imperative to work closely with the chef to get to know each dish intimately in order to plan it and plate it with enough time to make the shot extra special.

“It's no secret - I love food. Granted, we couldn't eat most of the food after we photographed it. Regardless, I was over the moon getting to work on this shoot. It was truly a team effort and we were all so happy to get the opportunity to blow torch a steak!”
